Background of the Study
Research proposals are a critical component of academic research, as they provide the foundation for investigations into specific areas of study. However, the review process for these proposals is often lengthy and subjective, relying on human evaluators to assess the quality, feasibility, and relevance of the research (Jensen & Park, 2024). AI can play a transformative role in this process by automating the review of research proposals using machine learning algorithms that analyze proposal content, research methodology, and alignment with academic standards (Yang et al., 2023). At Sokoto State University, Sokoto State, the adoption of an AI-based automated research proposal review system could increase the efficiency and objectivity of the review process, allowing for faster evaluation and feedback to researchers.
Statement of the Problem
Sokoto State University faces significant delays and inconsistencies in the research proposal review process. The reliance on manual review by faculty members often leads to subjective evaluations, lack of timely feedback, and challenges in maintaining consistent standards across proposals. An AI-based automated system for reviewing research proposals could address these issues by automating the evaluation process, improving accuracy, and providing faster feedback to researchers.
Objectives of the Study

Research Hypotheses

Significance of the Study

Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of the AI-based automated research proposal review system at Sokoto State University. It will not address the review of other types of academic work or involve other universities. The research will be limited to faculty and students involved in the proposal review process.
